Advising for Drew Students

Academic advising is provided for under-division Drew students by the Drew laboratory. The academic adviser/counselor will assist students in fulfilling the college and university requirements.

At the end of second year, the advisers in their respective majors will advise Drew students. The adviser works closely with pre-professional advisers, the Lyman Briggs School of Science, CAAP and Honors College advisers to ensure that all the academic requirements are met for these programs as well.

Drew provides critical information about academic programs, degree requirements, career options, course selection, secondary fields of study and extra-curricular activities. In addition, there are nonacademic referrals, shared campus resources, trouble shooting and problem solving on behalf of individual students.

The adviser knows the policies and procedures, and takes a personal interest in each student’s success. The academic adviser’s goal is to provide academic assistance and career guidance for the student throughout his or her undergraduate education.

Ultimate decisions during a student’s undergraduate career are made by the student, but the adviser is an educator who can share knowledge, experience and insight, which can be incorporated into that decision to benefit the student.

Engineering, nursing, agriculture, pre-veterinary medicine and upper-division students will be advised by their respective advisers in their own academic department.
